CONDITIONS

When buying a shipping container, knowing the difference between container conditions and grades is key
this helps you pick the right fit for your project, whether you’re after simple storage, conversion potential, or long-term durability
at travinfo, we keep it straight you’ll always know what you’re getting, why it’s priced that way, and how it’ll perform

Used containers

our most popular and budget-friendly option
these containers have served years of international shipping usually between 5 and 15 years before retirement
expect visible wear like dents, scratches, and surface rust, plus original shipping line paint and markings
while they might not win beauty contests, they’re still tough, secure, and fully functional for storage, modification, or local transport.

New one-trip containers

Basically brand-new only used once for a single shipment to reduce costs and carbon footprint
manufactured in asia and shipped to our depots loaded with cargo one time, these units arrive in excellent shape with just minor handling marks
they offer premium quality and long service life at a better price than brand-new factory-direct containers.

Refurbished containers

Refurbished containers start as used wind and watertight (wwt) units that get professionally cleaned, primed, and repainted for a fresh look and longer lifespan
they’re ideal for customers who want both performance and presentation without paying for a new build

we offer three levels of refurbishment:

  • Typical refurbishment  Exterior cleaned, rust removed, spot primed, and fully repainted (roof included).

  • Complete refurbishment  everything in typical plus a full interior paint job.

  • Factory refurbishment  A full overhaul with new paint inside and out, fresh gaskets, and updated markings.

Container grades

Shipping containers are graded based on structure, appearance, age, and repair history
here’s what those grades mean for you:

Wind and watertight (wwt)

our most common grade
guaranteed not to leak and fully sealed against weather
you’ll see some dents, rust, and cosmetic wear, but structurally they’re rock solid.

Cargo worthy (cw)

tested and certified for international transport by land, sea, or rail
still in strong working condition with typical wear from active shipping service
export-ready with proper inspection and valid csc certification.

iicl (iicl-6)

top-tier used containers meeting standards set by the institute of international container lessors
these are the cleanest, best-maintained used units on the market excellent structure, solid floors, and minimal exterior wear
ideal if you need long-term reliability or visual appeal

as-is

sold exactly as found
these containers may have rust holes, broken flooring, or frame damage and are not watertight
best for creative projects or situations where structure and looks don’t matter.

Final word

whether you’re buying a one-trip beauty or a rough-and-ready storage unit, travinfo gives you the facts upfront
no surprises no nonsense just honest containers built to last.
